Hunted Species and other TF fictions

  The next installment of Vicious Circle is now available on this site, and on FFnet. As announced previously, this chapter is about a turnaround in the story, not really in favor of Megatron and Starscream. I don’t unveil more details, and let the readers go on with this new chapter…

With some efforts, I have written the fifth chapter of “Vicious Circle”. In this new installment, be ready to be the witness of some turnarounds in the situation of Starscream and Megatron (aka. Silvergun), unfortunately not very positive for them…

The new chapter of “Vicious Circle” is now available on this site and on Fanfiction.net. Its title, “confrontation”, is of course a hint to the gladiatorial combat opposing Starscream/Megatron to Skullcrusher/Hellrazor. The chapter is not focusing only on this combat, but aims also at unveiling some details of the past of Megatron and Starscream (details that are different from the story line of “Hunted Species”. Nothing abnormal, it’s not the same story… And here, the notion of “past” varies according to the character…).

I took lot’s of pleasure in writing the first encounter between Skywarp, Thundercracker and Starscream. I thought the story was a little too dark, and needed some “funny” scene to ease the atmosphere. And I really see Skywarp doing such kind of things when he’s over-energized…

I take the opportunity to explain some aspects of this fiction…

As explained on FFNet, this story is inspired by the TV broadcast “Empire” that I watched some months ago. I had discovered the allusions to gladiators in TF thanks to War Within or the last Episode of the “Five Faces of Darkness” of the season 3 (I’ve always wondered if the silver gladiator that charges onto the Quintesson could have been Megatron in his early days). I started to explore this with my other fic, “Hunted Species”, but another scenario just popped up in my mind, giving birth to “Vicious Circle”.

The first basic idea is that past cannot be changed, and leads always to the same result. It is of course of nothing scientific at all. Just say that the fic started by the tragic coronation ceremony of Starscream, and will end with the same scene. But between the two scenes, there will just be some millions years during which the relationship between the two will have time to improve, stagn and eventually fall into decay.

Megatron and Starscream here are somehow inspired from the two main characters of Empire: Tyrannus the gladiator, and Octavius, the nephew of Caesar. During most of the episodes, Tyrannus undertakes to protect Octavius, who is quite an inexperienced young noble, if not inconstant and imprudent. As a matter of fact, in Vicious Circle, Megatron is fairly protective to Starscream, although he stays quite borderline with tyranny and brutality (in reference to the original Megatron)… Well, at least during the first half of the fiction. He just act as the protector/leader, who knows what to do and intends everybody to follow him for their own good. Starscream, on his side, tries to stay out of danger, although he seems to be drowned by problems even quicker than a butterfly is attracted by fire thanks to his inconstant and imprudent nature. He will also learn to put up with Megatron’s rough behavior, despite his original fear toward the one who is supposed to become his fearless leader.

This chapter 3 is the logic continuation of the chapter 2, and a transition to the following chapters where the two are going to battle in the arena. Starscream continues to be shared between fear and dependance toward Megatron, while the future tyrant is still wondering who the flyer is and (how) if he can use him to leave his half slave/half gladiator position.

I took eventually some elements from the Season 3 (like the point that at the beginning, the transformers couldn’t transform or fly, but developed it at the time when Decepticon and Autobots started their conflict). The allusion to DarkMount is a pure fantasy, provided I didn’t base it on any TF Universe story line.
